Whatchoo Gotta Lose?
Combining the '70s sounds of Sly Stone with a hearty of dose of Golden Era hip-hop (thanks in no small part to cameos from Kobie Powell - of the '90s rap group, Us3 - and Len Xiang), "Gotta Lose" is the song we expect to hear blasting for the rest of the summer as we sit on our Brooklyn brownstone stoops and bullshit over beers.
We've also made the song available as .WAV stems and a GarageBand file (for Mac users) so that all of you producers/remixers - pro and amateur alike - can make your own versions of the song and send them in for inclusion in the Lapdance Academy catalog.
So, what are you waiting for? Get downloading!

Gene Priest featured at Knoxville.com
In anticipation of "Living To Die," his upcoming release with backing band The Cardinal Sin, Lapdance Academy artist Gene Priest has been featured in a piece at Knoxville.com.Says Priest of Lapdance Academy founder Brian Grosz, "I really have to put it on Brian... He kind of pushed me to do this. He told me my stuff was good and people needed to hear it. Whether I believed it or not, he believed in it enough to put it out."
Well, we can safely say that it's an AMAZING record; and Grosz truly is a "pusher" in all meanings of the word.
Priest begins mixdown this weekend with Scott Minor of Sparklehorse manning the faders and compressors. Expect "Living To Die" to grace the screen of your iPod in mid-June.

Galaxy of Tar's "VOLATILE GLASS"
In concurrence with their full-length release, "Pneuma," Brooklyn's Galaxy of Tar has joined forces with Lapdance Academy to issue two tracks on "Volatile Glass," available for free download at lapdanceacademy.com/galaxyVocalist Naima Mora soars stratospherically over the Latin-groove poly-rhythms of drummer/sonic-architect Elias Diaz V; Borrowing equally from Diaz's Dominican roots and the industrial pulse of Brooklyn's transit system, GALAXY OF TAR have created an exquisite, liminal space between SANTANA'S "Abraxas" and TOOL'S "Lateralus." Rounded out by the torn, metallic shards of Nemanja Rebic's guitars and the deep pockets of Samuel Fernandez's bass lines, Volatile Glass stands as a testament that, yes, there is great music coming out of New York City.
It's not just a fashion show...

Reviews in the Hollywood Examiner and Indie Rock Cafe
If you've already downloaded Alex Walker's "Trust the Fire / Caught Starin" - you don't need anyone to tell you how damned good it is. But here's some outside opinions if you still need some cajoling to click..."Overall, Walker proves to be both consistent in sound, while experimental in mood and atmospherics. Moving from this sort of alternative, trippy rock to play with someone like Andrew Strong -- a virtuoso of blues rock -- proves that there's a lot of depth and creativity to Alex's talent, and ensures that his sound won't be pigeonholed to one genre or style"
-- Hollywood Reporter
While Indie Rock Cafe labeled Walker as a "One Man Bands To Watch in 2010"...
"Alex Walker is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist who creates layers of sounds, campfire singalong choruses, doubled-up samples and strong back beats with injections of quirky synth notes"
-- Indie Rock Cafe
