A true craftsman, Walker moves effortlessly from the complex and lyrical guitar work of his solo performances to the screaming lead guitar lines of the beautifully loud NYC band ALOKE; from his bass playing in the amplified chamber group ELECTRIC KOMPANY to producing music for CONTAGIOUS RHYTHM, whose music reaches 3 million television viewers every week.
Alex Walker is a composer, producer and multi-instrumentalist focused on creating a musical language that is simultaneously idiosyncratic and yet oddly familiar in that it cradles, sometimes shakes, but never abandons the listener. His work exists as an alchemic distillation of the classical guitar repetoire, the rock n' roll cannon, a childhood in the 80s and 90s (and all the trappings of that era), a love of hip-hop, jazz and other American improvisational trends and the philosophies of those who, in the past, have pushed the emotional limits of their instrument.
It's worth noting that Alan Thicke was overheard saying Walker was "A stork sailing through the big, blue skies, every so often delivering us a babe in white that both cradles and provokes the listener in each and every musically rich moment," but this has yet to be confirmed.
Or perhaps one should just offer the work of Alex Walker with four simple words: "You wanna hit this?"
